Invictus

I spent last week at the Invictus games in Orlando. Prince Harry launched the Invictus Games in London in 2014.The Games ‘harness the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for those whom serve their countries.’ Invictus means ‘unconquered’ and the spirit of ‘Invictus’ is embodied at the games by wounded warriors (from over 14 countries who have served their countries and returned home injured) who compete in high level athletic competitions like Powerlifting, Wheelchair Rugby, Track and Field, Swimming and Wheelchair Tennis.

It’s hard to express the inspiration that I experienced at the Invictus Games. The Service members had strength and determination that was truly next level.

Here are a few articles I’ve written to help share the experience and the stories of injured Service members who have made the choice to give life their all; to rehabilitate with all of their heart and soul and come back strong and healthy, both mentally and physically.

Invictus CollageI hope you’ll click the links in the articles to get to know the stories of just a few of these amazing ‘Wounded Warriors.” They will melt your heart and maybe move you to become more aware of the difficult transition that Service members face when they return to civilian life. We can volunteer to help in a few ways, one of which is ‘Hiring Heroes.” As entrepreneurs, we appreciate the dedication and discipline that Service members have and they may be a great match for your team. Prince Harry also talked about the ‘invisible injury;’ just because Service members do not have missing limbs, they may be deeply affected by mental health issues. He asked that we all support these Service members who suffer with ‘invisible wounds’ as well.

Thanks for your interest via social media as I shared the stories from the Invictus Games. It was an experience that I will never forget. Do you have family or friends who are serving or have served their country? I’d love to hear about your experience!
